The Saab J-32 Spear was a two-seat advanced trainer and attack aircraft developed by Saab for the Swedish Air Force between 1955 and 1960. During its long service life, the Saab J-32 was also used as a fighter, reconnaissance aircraft, electronic warfare aircraft, and target towing aircraft.
The J-32B was an all-weather fighter jet, initially designed for use in adverse weather and at night. Two prototypes and 118 production aircraft were produced between 1958 and 1960. It was retired in 1973. The aircraft was armed with four 30mm Aden cannons, RB-24 air-to-air missiles (licensed Sidewinder missiles), or 75mm unguided rockets. The J-32B used the more powerful RM6A engine (a licensed production version of Rolls-Royce's Avon MK.47).
