Supermarine Spiteful F.MK.14 Fighter - Trumpeter 02850
The Supermarine Spiteful was intended as a successor to the legendary Supermarine Spitfire. Using the same Rolls-Royce Griffon engine, the Spiteful incorporated improvements for take-off, landing, and high-speed handling. Though a successful aircraft, the introduction of jet fighters at the end of WWII negated the need for more high-performance piston-engined aircraft. Only 19 Spitefuls were actually built and their service life was relatively short. The Trumpeter kit of the Spiteful Mk.XIV in 1/48 scale represents one of the seventeen production aircraft and, when finished, has a wingspan of 22.4cm.
