The Mazda RX-8 is a Japanese passenger sports car that was unveiled to the public in 2001 at the Detroit auto show. Its serial production started in 2003 and lasted until 2012. Approximately 192,000 cars of this model were built in its course. Production was carried out primarily in the city of Hiroshima, Japan.

The RX-8 model was designed and implemented into serial production in order to expand the commercial offer of Mazda Motor Corporation and to replace the RX-7 model in it. Compared to its predecessor, the new car differed in several important elements. First of all, the exterior design and the interior of the passenger compartment have been significantly changed. It also used improved gasoline engines with a higher work culture and dynamics, reaching the power of 192-231 HP, produced in the Wankel system. The Mazda RX-8 also had great road characteristics, confidently entering and exiting corners, and had relatively extensive basic equipment. Its considerable disadvantage was the high fuel consumption, characteristic of Wankel engines. On the markets, the RX-8 was offered primarily as a 4-door coupe.
