The Heckler und Koch UMP (in short: HK UMP) is a modern submachine gun - most often - caliber 9 mm in Germany. The first copies of this rifle appeared in 1999, and in the same year the weapon entered production, which is continued. HK UMP - in the basic version - measures 69 cm (with the stock unfolded), with a mass of 2.3 kilograms. The theoretical rate of fire is up to 600 rounds / min, and the effective shot range - up to 200 meters. Heckler und Koch UMP was developed as a supplement to the company's market offer, and its main target market was to be the American market. It was also assumed that the new submachine gun would be cheaper to produce and would be less complex than its predecessor, the MP5. Finally, a weapon was created, made largely of polymers, which lowered its weight and uses a free slide, not a semi-free one. There were three main variants of the HK UMP: UMP45 (using .45 ACP ammunition), UMP40 (using .40 SW ammunition) and UMP9 (based on 9 mm caliber ammunition). The HK UMP submachine gun in various versions is used, among others, in Australia, Belgium, Brazil, France and Canada. It was also used by Polish anti-terrorist police units and CBŚ KGP.
